How are you all? When you hear the word ‘bear’, what comes to your mind? Ok, let’s just clarify, I’m not talking about this looool :
Let’s think about the other definition :
“To remain patient and attentive, especially during a lengthy or problematic situation that may cause one to want to quit or leave prematurely.”
When I think of this, what comes to mind is having to do something I reallllllyyyy don’t want to do, but doing it because there is a very important reason which drives me. This statement is actually found in Ephesians 4 : 2 :
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
When I read this and thought about the meaning of ‘to bear with’…….I simply had to laugh. God is too funny, He made sure ‘in love’ was added before the sentence finished. Naturally when we have to bear with something, we tend to do so grudgingly, complaining and justifying how ‘simply amazing’ we are for bearing with such a situation or person. But the moment the words ‘in love’ are thrown into the equation, all of the above simply has to go out of the window!
God knows our nature more than we do. There might be a person/people or even situations that you need to ‘bear with’ at the moment or even in the future. As people who are seeking to please God, we must not forget the end of that statement….‘in love’. This means to do so with sincere motives, a clean heart, patience, forgiveness and understanding.
