Have you ever been lost before? Stumbled away from a familiar path into the unknown? Have you ever been blindfolded and asked to walk down a path?
This picture captures all I want to share with you today. I have prayed for many years for God to develop in me a faith in Him that defies logic. A faith that expresses ‘blind’ trust and experiences what we call the ‘supernatural’.
There have been many moments I have thought I was walking down the ‘tightrope’ of faith, with nothing else to depend on but my trust in God’s word. But often times, that was not the case.
You know what I am talking about. You are believing God for His will in regards to something, but at the same time, you are taking your own decisions to create your own desired outcome. Crutches. Things we lean on aside from God are these crutches which steal our pure and dependent trust in Him.
There have been few times I have truly actually walked down the ‘tightrope’ of faith with absolutely nothing to depend on but my trust in God, looking ahead with faith in His Word and promises.
I am currently in such a season, I look to the left, right, up, down, under tables, behind people, through old experiences…..and NOPE…..there is absolutely NOTHING for me to lean on but God. I prayed a prayer at some point last year and He has been walking me through His response. He has made it so that I have no option but to mature in this area.
Whilst I am excited and grateful, I, probably like all the rest of you, tremble in fear and doubt from time to time. At times, I get desperate at the reality that I have absolutely NOTHING else to lean or rely on but my trust and faith in God’s word. At times I want to run out and make things happen with my own hands.
But this verse always brings me back in check! I want to mature in my relationship with my Father, I want to develop an Abrahamic faith and that requires trust and faith at levels not common to our human understanding.
Proverbs 3 : 5-8 NLT
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
